A 37-year-old Ewa Beach man was arrested Sunday for driving the wrong way on the H-2 freeway, hitting a truck head on and seriously injuring the driver 14 months ago.

The suspect was arrested on two counts of first-degree negligent injury, driving with a suspended license and hitting the truck, a Mazda pickup.

Police said on Nov. 8, 2012, the suspect drove a Toyota Sequoia SUV southbound in a northbound lane of the freeway, about a mile south of the Meheula Parkway overpass. The suspect’s vehicle hit the pickup truck, which was traveling northbound, head on.

A 44-year-old Waipahu man, who was driving the Mazda pickup truck, was pinned in the cab of the vehicle and taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The suspect sustained minor injuries.
