A cold front is approaching the islands which will bring gusty winds and heavy rain.

A cold front moving fast through the islands is expected to bring gusty winds and heavy showers tonight, forecasters say.

The winds will pick up from the southwest this afternoon and will shift to the west and northwest as the cold front passes late tomorrow.

The National Weather Service said the windward Kauai and windward and central Oahu areas may experience wind gusts of 40 to 45 mph, strong enough to cause minor property damage and impact power lines.

On Oahu’s south shore, it will be mostly cloudy tonight accompanied with vog and heavy rain likely after midnight.

Temperatures in Honolulu should dip into the 50s and low 60s Wednesday and Thursday night.

Forecasters are watching another weather system, which could bring more rain to the islands on Sunday.
