Bob’s Big Boy Hawaii, which closed its Mapunapuna restaurant after a fire in April 2009, has reopened under a new name in Waipahu Town Center in the former Sizzler location.

The new restaurant, Bob’s Big Bear Diner Waipahu, will celebrate its grand opening from noon to 9:30 p.m. today at 94-030 Farrington Highway and will feature appearances by comedian Frank De Lima and radio personality Bart DaSilva.

A classic cheeseburger, fries and coke float will be sold for $10.79, and there will be 60 free meal giveaways, free gummy bears and 1950 deejay music.

Many former employees of Bob’s Big Boy Hawaii have been hired.
