Hawaii loses in 5 at UC Santa Barbara in volleyball

Junior opposite Brook Sedore put down a team-high 15 kills and junior middle Taylor Averill added 14 but it was not enough as No. 11 Hawaii fell to No. UC Santa Barbara for a seventh straight time  tonight in Santa Barbara, Calif.

The Gauchos (5-2, 4-1) were led by Evan Licht’s 22 kills in winning the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation volleyball match 20-25, 25-23, 25-14, 21-25, 15-13 at Rob Gym.

Sophomore hitter Siki Zarkovic added 10 kills for the Rainbow Warriors (5-4, 3-3). Junior middle Davis Holt had nine kills with just one error,  two of Hawaii’s five aces and was in on eight of the team’s 15 blocks.

Hawaii returns from its first road trip of the season Saturday. The Rainbow Warriors head back out on the road later next week for two matches at Cal State Northridge Friday and Saturday.
