Remnants of a cold front northwest of Kauai are expected to bring rain to the Garden Island Wednesday and to Oahu Thursday.

Muggy, voggy weather on Oahu will give way to cloudy skies and wet tradewinds on Thursday, National Weather Service forecasters said.

A weather system moving down the island chain is expected to bring rain to Kauai on Wednesday and to Oahu by Thursday night.

The rains should be focused on windward and mauka areas, but leeward areas could also see showers.

The forecast for Honolulu calls for sunny skies but clouds in the evening. There is a possibility of isolated showers in the afternoon and evening.

Winds will shift from the south to the northeast and could become gusty near Kauai, possibly on Oahu on Thursday, when the winds will also bring rain.

The rainy weather could continue through the President’s Day holiday and beyond as another weather system develops near the islands.
