    This composite satellite image taken Saturday aftternoon shows a cold front northwest of Kauai that is expected to move over the islands starting Saturday night.

Rain and even snow on Big Island summits is expected through Monday as a cold front moves over the islands and stalls over Maui and the Big island this weekend.

Light to moderate rain ahead of the cold front fell over the islands Saturday.

Satellite images Saturday evening showed the slow-moving front just northwest of Kauai.

Rains from the front are moving over Kauai and Oahu Saturday night through Sunday, spreading to  the Big Island Sunday afternoon.

Some of the rain could be heavy Sunday afternoon through Monday.

Snow could also fall on Hawaii island summits Sunday afternoon through Monday. A high wind warning is also in effect for the summits.

Trade winds should return by Tuesday or Wednesday.
