Coconut Grove Music will relocate to a new, second-floor location in Kailua.

The store has operated in the same building at 418 Kuulei Road for 25 years.

The new location, to be open the first week of April, is above Hawaiian Water Sports at 167 Hamakua Drive and is nearly twice as large, said co-owner Mark Scrufari, in a statement.

Prior to the move, Coconut Grove will have a clearance sale on instruments, amplifiers, books and accessories Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The sale also includes a so-called garage sale of 25 years of back-room “finds,” Scrufari said.

Adjacent business Hungry Ear Records, originally established by late Coconut Grove founder Luke Yamashiro, is not affected by the music store’s move, said Hungry Ear co-owner Dennie Chong.
