Fire causes $200K damage to Hawaii island woodworking shop

Hawaii County firefighters on Monday extinguished a fire that caused $200,000 damage to a woodworking shop at a Mountain View house.

Firefighters responded to the 7:52 a.m. alarm at 11-3592 Hibiscus St., and arrived at 8:11 a.m.

The 22- by 20-foot structure was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. The fire was brought under control at 8:26 a.m., and did not spread to the residence, the Fire Department said.

No one was injured. The cause is undetermined.
