Hawaii’s unemployment dropped to 4.6 percent in January

Hawaii’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for January was 4.6 percent, down from the revised rate of 4.7 percent in December, the state Department of Labor & Industrial Relations reported today.

The drop in joblessness continues a trend that has seen Hawaii’s unemployment rate fall steadily from 6.3 percent in January 2012.

The state agency said Hawaii had 625,650 employed people and 30,250 unemployed in January. For the U.S. the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 6.6 percent in January, down from 6.7 percent in December.
