The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahines celebrate in the locker room after a win against the Cal State Long Beach 49ers during a quarterfinal game of the Big West Tournament Wednesday night at the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach.

The Hawaii women’s basketball team has accepted its second straight Women’s National Invitation Tournament bid and has been sent to play at Washington of the Pac-12 in a first-round matchup on Friday.

The Huskies (17-13) went 9-5 at home this season. They went 10-8 in league play.

UH (17-13) is one of two Big West teams in the 64-team field, along with Cal Poly.

UH was admitted to the WNIT last season, Laura Beeman’s first year as coach, with an identical 17-13 record. The Wahine were sent to play at the University of San Diego and lost that first-round matchup, 61-49.

That was the program’s first postseason appearance in a decade.
