Construction for the rail transit system has begun in the median lane on Kamehameha Hwy near Kanuku St. in Aiea.

A new display at Ala Moana Center is meant to provide updated information about progress on Honolulu’s rail transit project.

The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation unveiled the rail transit center Monday at Ala Moana’s satellite city hall. The authority says a model of Waipahu’s West Loch rail station provides a preview of what some of the system’s 21 stations will look like.

The authority says the display will be updated regularly and features an aerial map of the 20-mile route.

Displays are planned for other satellite city halls on Oahu.

Construction is underway for the more than $5 billion project.
