LIHUE >> A judge has reduced a $1 million bail amount to $100,000 for a man accused of pushing a Japanese visitor off a Kalalau Valley cliff.

The Garden Island  reports that bail for 38-year-old Justin Wynn Klein of Kilauea was cut Tuesday by Judge Kathleen Watanabe in 5th Circuit Court.

Klein is awaiting a June 25 sentencing after pleading guilty in March to reckless endangerment. He originally was charged with attempted murder.

Klein was accused of throwing the 31-year-old woman off the 15-foot cliff in December 2012. The woman was critically injured and spent 10 days in the hospital.

Klein was a fugitive for four months before turning himself into police in April 2013.
