Hawaii island police are looking for an 18-year-old Hilo man in connection with a burglary in Puna on Thursday.

An alert neighbor saw a suspicious man approach the front door of a Hawaiian Paradise Park residence and then move to the rear of the residence, where signs of a break-in were later discovered. Police confirmed that cash and electronic devices were taken.

The neighbor confronted the man, who ran toward another residence and into some bushes.

On Friday, police asked the public’s assistance in locating the man, who is described as 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 135 pounds, with short brown hair, a tan complexion and a light mustache.

The case has been classified as first-degree burglary.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 935-3311, Detective Royce Serrao at 961-2272, or CrimeStoppers at 961-8300.
