Police ID victim of head-on collision on Hawaii island
Big Island police have identified the man who died Sunday in a head-on collision on Keaau-Pahoa Road as 26-year-old Matthew Therrien of Hilo.
According to police, Therrien was driving a Subaru sedan traveling west of the highway when he attempted to overtake another vehicle and collided with a Ford pickup truck. Therrien died at the scene.
The driver of the truck sustained minor injuries and was arrested on suspicion of operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant.
