A 27-year-old Hilo man used video surveillance to help police catch a suspected burglar who allegedly stole tools from a carport.

Police said the man’s tools were stolen Feb. 25 from his home’s carport, and he had caught a suspect removing the tools on video surveillance.

Police found and arrested a 30-year-old Hilo man Wednesday.

Mitchell Kihara was charged Thursday with first-degree burglary and third-degree theft. His bail was set at $5,500.

He is scheduled to appear in court Monday.
