A composite satellite image taken at about noon Thursday shows rain clouds in the trade wind flow northeast of the islands.

Breezy tradewinds may blow April showers over leeward areas of the islands, including Honolulu on Thursday night and Friday, National Weather Service forecasters said.

East winds of up to 15 to 25 mph with higher gusts are expected to continue through Sunday.

Forecasters said showers are likely Thursday evening in windward and mauka areas and scattered showers may blow over the mountains to leeward areas.

A 70 percent chance of rain is expected in Honolulu Thursday night and a 50 percent chance of Friday, according to the forecast.

Winds could ease slightly Sunday and Monday, but should become breezy again during the middle of the week.
