A 29-year-old man died Saturday night while participating in a sporting event in Aiea, Honolulu police said.

The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office identified the man as Sheldon Branch of Aiea. A cause of death is not yet available, and an autopsy will likely be conducted Monday, the office said.

Branch’s Facebook profile lists him as a Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard worker and Leilehua High School graduate originally from Wahiawa. He recently married in August.

Branch became unresponsive around 9:42 p.m., according to police records. The medical examiner noted 9:42 p.m. as the time of his death.

Police classified the incident as an unattended death and forwarded to case to the homicide division for further investigation.

No other details were made available.
