Crews complete repairs on water mains in Kailua, Waipahu

About 82 homes were without service after a water main break was reported at the intersection of Wanaao Rd. and Wanaao Pl. in Kailua around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Board of Water Supply said.

The 8-inch main was originally installed in 1960, the BWS said.

A water wagon was set up at 768 Wanaao Rd. 

Service was expected to be restored by midnight and repairs to the road completed by 4 a.m.

Board of Water Supply crews also finished repairs on a 12-inch water main break in Waipahu Tuesday night.

The main broke at about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday and service was restored to about 18 customers by 6 p.m.

Road repairs continued to just before midnight on Waipahu Street between Malakeke Street and Waipahu Depot Road.

The main was originally installed in 1927.
