Small plane makes emergency landing on Molokai

A small-fixed wing, single-engine airplane made an emergency landing Tuesday at Molokai Airport.

The pilot  was not injured, and the plane sustained minor damage when the nose gear of a Piper PA28 collapsed upon landing at 2:30 p.m., Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said in an email.

The plane skidded to the runway shoulder, said Caroline Sluyter, Department of Transportation spokeswoman.

As of 3:30 p.m., crews were working to remove the plane from the runway.

The plane, manufactured in 1984, is registered to Washin Air Inc. of Honolulu, according to FAA data.
