A Circuit Court judge on Wednesday sentenced a 36-year-old man already serving 20 years for an Aiea pool hall robbery to an additional 40 years for his “outrageous behavior” in a separate home invasion robbery.

Patrick Deguair was found guilty in March of robbery, kidnapping, burglary, and firearm charges in connection with a 2007 Maili home invasion robbery. Deguair and three other people disguised as federal DEA agents burst into a home and robbed the residents at gunpoint.

Judge Glenn Kim said, “This defendant was clearly the ringleader of this whole operation.” Rejecting a plea for Deguair to serve concurrent sentences, Kim said the invasion was “outrageous behavior and it’s not going to be tolerated by … this court.”

Deguair had been accused of murdering a fellow suspect in the home invasion, Jermaine Duckworth, because Duckworth spoke to police about the invasion. Two juries deadlocked in separate trials, and Kim dismissed the murder charge.

Deguair was convicted in 2012 of robbing Aiea Cue in 2008, a week after Duckworth’s body was found at the bottom of a cliff near Yokohama Bay.
