A 103,000 square-foot Macy’s store will anchor a regional shopping mall planned for Kapolei, according to a statement from DeBartolo Development LLC, the developer of the project.

Groundbreaking for the 1.4 million square foot Ka Makana Alii mall will be later this year, and the development will include more than a 100 shopping, dining and entertainment-related tenants, as well as two hotels and office space.

“Demand for leasing space at Ka Makana Alii has been overwhelming with over 80 percent of space either in lease or active negotiations,” said Edward Kobel, president and chief operating officer of DeBartolo Development, in a statement. “We are confident that the addition of Macy’s will only heighten interest from local and national retailers.”
