The search for 56-year-old fisherman missing since Friday continued for a second full day without any new leads.

Big Island fire rescue personnel conducted a multi-pronged search effort around the Malama Flats area on Sunday. An air crew searched up to a half-mile offshore while divers searched an area fronting Malama Flats. Ground crews also searched the area between Pohoiki and Kaimu Beach.

The man was last seen around 9 p.m. Friday. Witnesses said he was swept out to sea after slipping on a rock or being knocked down by a wave.

Firefighters suspended the search until first light on Monday.
