Couple convicted of killing parents in cash scam

LONDON >> A British husband and wife have been convicted of murdering the woman’s parents, burying their bodies and collecting their pension checks for 15 years.

A jury at Nottingham Crown Court found Susan and Christopher Edwards guilty Friday of shooting William and Patricia Wycherly in May 1998.

Prosecutors said the debt-ridden Edwards collected almost $425,000 by pretending her parents were still alive. They used some of the money to buy celebrity memorabilia, including autographs of Gary Cooper and Frank Sinatra.

They told relatives that the Wycherlys were traveling or had moved to the coast for health reasons.

The bodies were unearthed in October. Susan and Christopher Edwards had moved to France but were arrested at a London railway station after emailing police to say they wanted to surrender.
