A Malayan water monitor lizard was captured Friday afternoon at Joint Base Pearl Harbor–Hickam. The lizard measured about 18 inches in length. Found in India, China, Malaysia, the New Guinea islands and other parts of Asia, the reptile is a threat to native and ground-nesting birds in Hawaii.
