Moderate to heavy showers fell over Windward Oahu and Hawaii Kai on Tuesday morning.

Cooling tradewinds have returned to the islands and should blow away the last of the muggy, moist weather that created uncomfortably humid conditions and spotty heavy rains Monday.

National Weather Service forecasters say the air around the islands is still somewhat unstable and moist. But the northeast tradewinds have returned, along with the usual morning windward and mauka showers.

“Atmospheric conditions will become more stable with less moisture as the day progresses.” forecasters said. “Expect typical drier summer trade wind weather to return through the next few days.”

Forecaster say another moist air mass may move through the state this weekend, weakening tradewinds and bringing a greater chance of showers.
