Hiker who died after falling from Kokee trail identified

The hiker who died after falling from the Kokee Trail on Tuesday has been identified as Devin Goetsch of Honolulu, according to Kauai Police.

Police said Goetsch, 25, was hiking with two friends from Maui around 1 p.m. when Goetsch apparently lost his footing and slipped down a cliff.

Helicopter rescue crews located his body around 2:30 p.m., roughly 700 feet below where Goetsch slipped.

An autopsy has been ordered to determine the cause of death.

Police are not suspecting foul play.

Police initially believed the victim was from Maui.
