This satellite image shows Tropical Storm Iselle about 1,000 miles southwest of Mexico and remnants of former Tropical Depression Genevieve moving southeast of the Big Island Thursday afternoon.

Tropical Storm Iselle has formed in the Eastern Pacific and is forecast to become a hurricane by Saturday.

The storm is still too far away from Hawaii to predict if it will affect the weather here.

At 5 p.m. Thursday, Iselle was about 1,135 miles southwest of the southern tip of Baja California, Mexico. The storm is moving west-northwest at 12 mph with sustained winds of 45 mph.

Tropical storm force winds extend up to 70 miles from the center.

Forecasters expect the storm grow into a hurricane by the weekend, then weaken as it enters the Central Pacific Tuesday.
