Manslaughter added to Deedy trial options

Jurors in Christopher Deedy’s murder retrial will be permitted to consider a verdict of manslaughter and perhaps even assault — options the jury was not given in his first trial in Kollin Elderts’ shooting.

In Deedy’s first trial in his fatal shooting of Elderts, the jury was only instructed to consider a verdict of murder. In Deedy’s retrial, state Circuit Judge Karen Ahn, at right, said she will also instruct the jury to consider verdicts of manslaughter and assault.
