The approaching storms have prompted state officials to cancel road work on state highways and roadways across all islands through 10 pm Sunday.

The airports and highways across Hawaii remained open Thursday afternoon except for the Umauma Stream Bridge  on Route 19 north of Hilo, according to a state Department of Transportation release.

The Zipper Lane on H-1 Freeway will not be put in use on Friday, the release further added.

Meanwhile, rail officials on Oahu have canceled  construction on the transit project, as well as its related lane closures, through the weekend.  Any rail-related lane closures scheduled for next week may have to be postponed, depending on the weather conditions, Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation spokesman Scott Ishikawa said.
