The Coast Guard is searching for a possible missing diver off  Maui, after  a 45-foot response boat discovered a dive float adrift at 6:45 p.m. Thursday while conducting routine training in Maalaea Bay.

The dive float’s flag is red and white with an orange and yellow line attached to a broken clasp.

The Coast Guard is  asking mariners to keep a sharp eye out for anyone possibly in distress.

Anyone with information that may help identify the owner of the float is asked to contact the Sector Honolulu Command Center at (808) 842-2600.

The Coast Guard advises the public to label all watercraft and equipment with contact information  to quickly account for owners and prevent  unnecessary searches.
