Kauai police arrested a 33-year-old Eleele man Sunday after he allegedly stabbed his 18-year-old girlfriend while they were arguing in a parked car at a shopping center.

At about 2:15 p.m. Sunday, police responded to the parking lot at Eleele Shopping Center after multiple witnesses reported seeing a couple arguing in a gold Lexus sedan near Ace Hardware and it appeared the male started stabbing the victim who was seated in the driver’s seat.

The victim ran from the car and the suspect fled on foot. Police said bystanders tended to the victim who was near the entrance of Big Save when officers arrived.

The victim sustained a single puncture wound to her stomach and was transported to Wilcox Hospital in stable condition.

Shortly after the incident, officers located the suspect at an Ulupua Road home in Eleele and arrested on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder.
