Ashley Lilinoe says she tried out for the final season of the show not to win, but to connect.

It’s off to Hollywood for Hawaii’s “American Idol” hopeful, Ashley Lilinoe.

The soulful 21-year-old guitarist/singer from Kaneohe impressed the judges in Thursday night’s audition round, which was shot last summer in Denver. She moves on for another performance before the judges during what the Fox TV show calls “Hollywood Week.” But Fox isn’t saying which night — Jan. 27, 28 and Feb. 3 — will include Lilinoe.

Lilinoe performed a cover of Alannah Myles’ “Black Velvet” but said it didn’t go well. She was accompanied by a piano and could see the judges — Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. — leaning forward to hear her.

“They had a hard time hearing me,” she said. “I recall the piano being louder than me. I am not the loudest, but I project.”

Lilinoe felt she could have done better and was challenged to do so by Lopez, she said.

“J-Lo said, ‘I get your vibe but it feels like I want more of your soul,’” Lilinoe said. “I accepted that. She is a goddess and when you present yourself in front of a goddess you give her your everything, you give her your all.”

Americans are not saving enough for retirement is the trend with the news as of late. It’s because we rather be an American Idle, watching the American Idol TV show, than watching an financial investment TV show?

Americans may not know what a municipal bonds is, but they sure know who is in first place with the American Idol Show.

How ironic a singing competition is judged by Paula Abdul and Jennifer Lopez … neither can carry a note for … well, you know

Her comments sounded like she was smoking a little something before her performance. 🙂

I have to agree with you on that statement. She needs to get a little more in touch with her real age rather than her infinite as she put it! She already has a bulls eye on her from Jennifer Lopez and she would do much better just singing rather than making weird comments!

    Right on! Make us proud.

She was lucky, very lucky, to get that gold card to L.A. I don’t see her going much further as maybe being cut in the first round in L.A.
Really didn’t show much in her talent.

Saw her performance and I agree with Keith and Harry where she didn’t knock them off their feet but did just enough to want to see more before passing judgement on her abilities.
