Molokai firefighters battled a one-acre brush fire off Maunaloa Highway about a quarter-mile from an airport runway today.
Employees from the airport control tower reported the blaze about 2:15 p.m.
Firefighters from Hoolehua brought the fire under control by 2:44 p.m. and had it fully extinguished by 5:52 p.m.
Flames came within 100 feet of a residential structure. The structure was not damaged and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire was undetermined.
