Four Hawaii surfers lost in their respective Round 3 heats of Wednesday’s Vans U.S. Open of Surfing stop at Huntington Beach, Calif., and will have to fight off elimination in today’s Round 4 on the Samsung Galaxy WSL Championship Tour.

Coco Ho finished second in her heat while three-time WSL champion Carissa Moore, Malia Manuel and Tatiana Weston-Webb all finished third in their heats. The winners of each heat advanced directly to the quarterfinals.

Today’s elimination lineup has Weston-Webb facing Australia’s Laura Enever, Moore taking on Australia’s Keely Andrew, and Ho and Manuel facing each other.

OHCRA cancels championship meet

The Oahu Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association will not be running its championship races after being postponed by Tropical Storm Darby.

The organization intended on running the races on Sunday, but instead will take standings from its previous race to determine which teams to send to the state championships on Aug. 6.

The association is asking for volunteers to help clean up the debris at Keehi Lagoon in time for the state race.

The clean-up begins at 7 a.m. today and runs through the afternoon.

Chaminade golf earns GCAA honor

The Chaminade men’s golf team was named to the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) All-Academic Team on Wednesday.

Teams must post at least a minimum 3.0 team grade point average for selection.

It is the second consecutive year for the Silverswords, one of 50 NCAA Division II teams to be named to the list.
