No. 15 Wahine sweep Waves

University of Hawaii’s Emily Maglio scored a kill in the first set against Pepperdine.

Senior opposite Nikki Taylor put down 13 kills with a career-high seven aces, and junior middle Emily Maglio added 12 kills without a hitting error, as No. 15 Hawaii used a huge Set 1 rally to sweep Pepperdine 29-27, 25-6, 25-18 in a nonconference volleyball match tonight at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The Rainbow Wahine (6-4) finished with 11 aces in their 12th straight win over the Waves (6-5). Senior Annie Mitchem, returning for the first time since last Oct. 17, added 10 kills.

Hawaii held off eight set points before pulling out Set 1, including being down 24-19.

Nikki Lyons led Pepperdine with 10 kills.

The teams meet again Saturday at 7 p.m.
