Mayor Kirk Caldwell and challenger Charles Djou squared off in a debate sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce Hawaii at the Plaza Club in downtown Honolulu on Thursday.

AARP Hawaii is inviting the public to ask questions of Honolulu’s two mayoral candidates at a live electronic “tele-town hall forum” that will run from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1.

Both Mayor Kirk Caldwell and former U.S. Rep. Charles Djou are scheduled to appear at the virtual town hall meeting. The public can listen by telephone or via live stream on a dedicated web site.

Those who want to ask questions or want to listen in via phone need to register by midnight at vekeo.com/aarp-hawaii/#event-16743. A registration confirmation email providing a verification link will be sent.

People who want to listen to the forum online may do so by going to vekeo.com/aarp-hawaii/#event-16743 from about 8:40 a.m., or about 20 minutes before the forum starts.

The forum is being hosted by Barbara Kim Stanton, AARP state director.

Set your alarm. This is important. I am listening right now. It is fantastic that it is live and that people can have this input in real time.
