Flood coverage rates expected to keep rising

    Residential property owners who have flood insurance likely will see their premiums increase an average of 6 percent to 7 percent next year. Flood map revisions in 2014 expanded to include areas on the west side of Waimalu Stream, a zone along Halawa Stream and Kawainui Marsh near Coconut Grove. Hawaii residential property owners who carry flood insurance saw their premiums rise an average of 10 percent this year and likely will face an average increase next year of 6 percent to 7 percent. Read more
