Head to Ewa Beach Saturday for a food truck, craft sale and farmers market fundraiser.
The Hoakalei Ho‘ike October Mele benefits the Ewa Weed & Seed program, a program aimed at reducing crime and drug use.
The event runs 3:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Hoakalei Resort at the end of Keoneula Boulevard.
Entertainment will be by Kimie Miner, Kaipo and Pu‘uloa.

Tour the farm, taste the food
Cactus Bistro hosts Wendy Gady of Poamoho Farms at a Farmer’s Dinner Oct. 13. Gady in turn will host a pre-event, a guided tour of her organic farm in Waialua on Sunday.
Those who attend will be able to harvest some of the produce that will be used at the dinner.
The six-course dinner is $115; $20 more for wine pairings. All courses and wines also will be available a la carte.

Help pick best in beef stew
If your plans take you to the Wet ‘n’ Wild Hawaii water park Saturday, check out the beef stew cook-off and help pick a winner.
Contestants will be chef Sam Choy, representatives of the Honolulu police and fire departments, a culinary student from Windward Community College and WCC instructor Dale Thomas.
