Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, left, listened as Kathy Shelton made remarks before the second presidential debate with democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton at Washington University, Sunday, in St. Louis.

WASHINGTON » A sexual assault victim who is critical of Hillary Clinton and who appeared alongside Donald Trump before Sunday night’s debate was paid $2,500 by a political action committee founded by Trump ally Roger Stone.

The Arkansas woman, Kathy Shelton, was sexually assaulted at age 12 and was the victim in a 1975 case in which Clinton was appointed to represent her then-41-year-old attacker, Thomas Alfred Taylor. Shelton has accused Clinton of crossing ethical bounds in the case, and over the past few months, Shelton has given TV and video interviews slamming Clinton.

Shelton’s case has been extensively cited in conservative media as evidence that Clinton, the Democratic nominee for president, does not have the best interests of women at heart.

The May payment to Shelton by the Committee to Restore America’s Greatness PAC, founded by Stone, was described as “contract labor” in campaign finance reports filed with the Federal Election Commission. Asked by The Associated Press about the reason for the payment, Stone said in an email that Shelton “was extensively interviewed on video about her experience with Hillary Clinton and was paid for her time.”

Shelton did not respond to a written request for comment left at her home in recent weeks by an AP reporter.

In 1975, Clinton was asked by a judge overseeing the case to represent Shelton’s alleged attacker. After the prosecution lost key evidence, Clinton’s client entered a plea to a lesser charge. In an interview a decade later, Clinton expressed horror at the crime, but was recorded on tape laughing about procedural details of the case. The audio has been seized on by conservative groups looking to attack Clinton’s candidacy.

Stone is a former lobbyist for Trump, the GOP presidential nominee, and has boasted about his role as a bit player in the Watergate scandal. Stone served as a senior adviser to Trump’s White House campaign in its early days. After separating from the campaign early last summer, Stone created a series of pro-Trump organizations. He has said he remains in direct touch with the candidate.

Stone has arranged to pay other women critical of the Clintons.

Earlier this year, Stone sought to raise money to pay off the mortgage of Kathleen Willey, who accused Bill Clinton of making unwanted sexual advances toward her during her time as a volunteer in his White House in the 1990s. Stone claimed in an online video interview that Trump had personally contributed to the fund.

Trump’s campaign has not endorsed Stone’s political action committee, and has sent the group a cease and desist letter. The campaign has denied that Trump gave money to Willey’s mortgage fund.

A company called WeSearchr said on Twitter that it paid for Shelton’s trip to the debate in St. Louis. That firm was co-founded by conservative media figure Charles C. Johnson, an outspoken Trump supporter. WeSearchr says it crowdfunds research about rumors it believes are not being covered by news outlets.

Trump campaign spokeswoman Hope Hicks said in an email Sunday that the campaign paid for Juanita Broaddrick’s travel to the debate. “She was our invited guest,” Hicks wrote.

Broaddrick is a former Arkansas nursing home administrator who first claimed 17 years ago that Bill Clinton raped her during a meeting in Little Rock in 1978. Broaddrick sued Bill Clinton in 1999, but the case was dismissed in 2001. Bill Clinton has long denied Broaddrick’s allegations.

Associated Press writer Julie Bykowicz and Stephen Braun contributed to this report.

      • You know that Hillary didn’t want the case but the Judge made her take it. As any good lawyer she had to defend her client even though she knew he was guilty and won the case because the prosecutors loss some valuable evidence. So how does this help Trump? It just shows the lack of research and desperate urgency to his falling run for the Presidency.

        • Is it true she was paid? Typical supporter. And it shows that Trump would pay for favors too? He paid government officials for building favors. Is there a difference?

    • Except Donald hasn’t improved or learned. It was only LAST YEAR when Trump called Mexicans “rapists”; said we should ban Msulims; said the US should assassinate the families of suspected terrorists (which is an actual war crime); said torture is fine even if it doesn’t work, because they deserve it; and wondered “how much the Japs will pay for property these days.” That’s not OLD dirt.

      • Ryan, Trump never called all Mexicans rapists. That’s Democratic spin. He said are open borders allow a lot of bad people, including rapists drug smugglers, and gang members, to freely enter out country. That’s a true fact. And by the way, the alternative, Hillary, is for open borders. Nothing in her plans on immigration prevent the aforementioned thugs from entering the country. No plan has been presented by Hillary. Borders aren’t a big issue in Hawaii for obvious reasons. Talk to border agents in the Southwest. The last thing we need is another anti-Trump article, such as this one.

        • Do you remember?
How quickly we forget! If you’re over 35, take a walk with me down memory lane—you won’t believe what you have forgotten. If you’re under 35, read on—I promise you that you will be amazed at what you missed! (By the way, sadly, this isn’t a joke. I wish it was.)

REMEMBER WHEN BILL CLINTON WAS PRESIDENT?
          (January 20, 1993 to January 20, 2001—two terms)

When Bill Clinton was president, he allowed Hillary to assume authority over an attempt to reform health care.

Her proposed plan was so bad that many Democrats came up with competing plans of their own in protest, and in spite of threats and intimidation, on September 26, 1994, the “Hillarycare” bill was declared dead.

This fiasco cost the American taxpayers about $13 million for studies, promotion, and other efforts.

Then, President Clinton gave Hillary authority over selecting a female attorney general. Her first two selections were Zoe Baird and Kimba Wood—both were forced to withdraw their names from consideration.

Next, she chose Janet Reno, which husband Bill described as “my worst mistake.”

(Some may not remember that Reno made the decision to gas David Koresh and the Branch Davidian religious sect in Waco, Texas resulting in dozens of deaths of women and children.)

Husband Bill also allowed Hillary to make recommendations for the head of the Civil Rights Commission—Lani Guanier was her selection.

After considerable backlash from prominent Democratic senators concerning Ms. Guanier’s radical views, Bill Clinton withdrew her name from nomination, stating that she did not represents the civil rights views that he had championed during his campaign.

However, apparently a slow learner, husband Bill continued to allow Hillary to make more recommendations.

She chose former law partners, Web Hubbel for the Justice Department, Vince Foster for the White House staff, and William Kennedy for the Treasury Department.

Her selections went well: Hubbel went to prison, Foster (presumably) committed suicide, and Kennedy was forced to resign.

(Is anyone wondering yet what her Supreme Court Justice appointments would be like?)

Many younger voters will have no knowledge of “Travelgate,” the first major ethics controversy during Bill’s presidency.

Hillary wanted to award unfettered travel contracts to Clinton friend, Harry Thompson—but the White House Travel Office refused to comply.

She trumped up allegations of financial mismanagement and reported seven long-time White House employees to the FBI. This ruined their reputations, got them fired, and caused a thirty-six month investigation.

Eventually, most of the employees were reinstated and Clinton associates were forced out of the travel office. Only one White House employee, Billy Dale, was charged with a crime—the enormous crime of mixing personal and White House funds; a jury acquitted him in less than two hours.

Still not convinced of her ineptness, Hillary was allowed to recommend a close Clinton friend, Craig Livingstone, for the position of Director of White House Security.

When Livingstone was investigated for the improper access of about 900 FBI files of Clinton enemies (Filegate) and the widespread use of drugs by White House staff, suddenly Hillary and the President denied even knowing Livingstone, and of course, denied knowledge of drug use in the White House.

Following this debacle, the FBI closed its White House Liaison Office after more than thirty years of service to seven presidents.

Next, when women started coming forward with allegations of sexual harassment and rape by Bill Clinton, Hillary was put in charge of the “bimbo eruption” and scandal defense.

Let’s look at some of her more notable decisions in this regard . . .

She urged her husband not to settle the Paula Jones lawsuit. After the Starr investigation, they settled with Ms. Jones.

She refused to release the Whitewater documents, which led to the appointment of Ken Starr as Special Prosecutor.

After $80 million dollars of taxpayer money was spent, Starr’s investigation led to Monica Lewinsky, which led to Bill lying about and later admitting his affairs.

Hillary’s devious game plan resulted in Bill losing his license to practice law for ‘lying under oath’ to a grand jury, followed by his subsequent impeachment by the House of Representatives.

Hillary avoided indictment for perjury and obstruction of justice during the Starr investigation by repeating, “I do not recall,” “I have no recollection,” and “I don’t know” a total of 56 times while under oath. (Sound familiar?)

After leaving the White House, Hillary was forced to return an estimated $200,000 in White House furniture, china, and artwork that she had “mistakenly thought was hers.”

So you see, the email scandal and all of her malfeasance regarding the handling of Top Secret information, not to mention the “pay to play” schemes of the Clinton Foundation, are nothing new.

Hillary’s entire political career has been nothing but a web of lies, corruption and destruction in her quest for power.

Is anyone else ready to say, “Enough is enough!”?

But unfortunately, I’m sure her loyal fans will say, “What difference does it make?”

        • sarge22…^5 Excellent history on the worst person to run for the office…the D3vil in Plain Site!

        • She wants more furniture before Obama takes it. If she wins the secret service will have to work overtime to watch over Bill.

        • sarge22- Your prose was an excellent depiction of Clinton Corruption.

Unfortunately, the devil is in the details and Clinton supporters are like the three mystic apes -HEAR, SEE, SPEAK NO EVIL.

The millennial population, who represent a sizable voting group, may want to do their homework and visit the CLINTON’S PAST MISDEEDS.

        • sarge22 this took a lot of work to get this information. The mainstream media and SA hardly brings any of this up and if they do they spin it. Great reporting, the SA will not hire a person like you because they see your intelligence as a threat to having controlled reporting by their staff.

It is sad that we have only one paper in this state. Competition and true journalism is a thing of the past. No true investigative type of reporting done today.

Everyone needs to heed sarge22’s information. Are we going to let a person like this be in the white house again where the buck stops at her. DANGEROUS!

        • IRT sarge22: Thanks for taking the time to post. I hope every reader takes the time to learn something about the candidate. I might add that I was in a Graduate Business class years ago. At the time the Wall Street Journal released a photo of Hillary’s proposed government health care plan. The professor used the flow chart as an example of how NOT to organize a business, or in this case, the government. The chart consisted of a circle with all groups reporting to each other. Only a person without having spent a day in business, surrounded by people who haven;’t spent a day in business, could come up with such an organizational chart. It was mocked at the time. It reminds me of why the VA system is a disaster, and will not change until someone with business experience reorganizes the entire VA. The media could, but won’t, talk about Hillary’s history with healthcare. They simply won’t report anything negative.

    • These women were paid by a rich, corrupt supporter of Trump? No surprise in that. We all will vote for Hillary. We cannot abide an incompetent man with bad morals and a hatred for America. He has manipulated poor whites for a long time and continues to do so.

  • The dirt on Bubba is not old dirt. His sexual escapades were never really covered by the drive by media as they have all been in the tank to protect Bubba and his evil wife, Hillary.

    • First, Bill Clinton is not running for president, Trump is. A lot of Trump supporters don’t seem to be aware of this simple fact. And second, if his past makes Bill Clinton not qualified to be president, then Trump is not qualified either. So nobody should be voting for Trump, based upon your criticism of Bill Clinton.

      • the female felon said that the stain would lead the economy and job creation issues in her administration.

that makes the history of the stain even more relevant in this election.

one reason to vote trump is his promise to have his attorney general appoint a special prosecutor to look into the f.b.i. and department of justice’s botched investigation into the female felon’s mishandling of classified information. another special prosecutor will be appointed to look into the criminal money laundering scheme known as the clinton foundation which has accepted donations in return for political action by clinton.

        • Just filling you in on a little secret…. Trump is losing by double digits. He’s finished.

        • I was going to vote for a third party as I am not enthusiastic about Hillary’s hawkishness. However I have decided to vote for her as republicans are such idiots. I hope she appoints Obama or perhaps his wife to the Supreme court. Then perhaps republicans will learn not to shred the constitution.

Thanks Donald for sucking all the oxygen out of the republican primary. We might have had Jeb as the republican nominee if it wasn’t for you. I wonder if the republican party will ever follow republican principles again? I don’t think so.

      • No matter what Trump does he has an uphill battle. The Republican Party should have never ever agree to the first two debate moderators. If anyone on the plate believes Hillary wasn’t given the questions ahead of time, we’ll, I have a bridge for you to buy. The process is so corrupt. So far, all the Saul Alinsky’s method are in place and doing very well, thank you. I wonder what percentage of voters even know of Saul Alinsky.

        • Saul Alinski is relevant to me, not least because compared to Drumpf he’s a paragon of truth-telling and accuracy.

      • “Trump hurt himself by trying to resurrect these old allegations”?

So then Allie is there – – or should there be – – a statute of limitations for the crime of rape?

        • Remember the tape was then followed by vicious attacks by Hillary. She destroyed these women’s lives and $2500 to attend an event warrants news. Both Clinton’s should be in jail.

        • So Nalogirl, that rapist should not have been given a defense? Just taken out back and shot? So very American of you. 🙂

    • Where is your source that Clinton paid Alicia Machado? Was it some right-wing kangaroo news station? Did they have a former Republican state representative say “I’m pretty sure they paid her.”? Because that BS is the only thing I found.

You should have facts before stating opinions. For example, you should insist on seeing Trump’s tax returns, to find out if he’s BS-ing you, because he’s a poor millionaire who doesn’t pay taxes and declares bankruptcy whenever he owes too much money.

    • IRT Kailua000: How about some
fair and balanced” reporting in general.Maybe if Hawaii practiced a two party system both political parties would have more equal representation in the news.

      • Keonigohan – I just wanted to thank you for having a hand in making Donald Trump the Republican nominee for President. You and his other disciples have delivered to the Democrats the most remarkable gift possible – a nominee so ignorant and mentally ill that he will lose, no matter how flawed his opponent.

The Senate looks lost now also for the Republicans, and Speaker Ryan is fighting to hold onto the House. Thanks again for what you’ve done!

Senator Schumer is making plans to be Senate Majority Leader. Great days!

        • Hey self proclaimed Federal Judge klastri (aka Kurt on Kauai aka Kauai) GW Bush appointee…you still in your vitriolic ideologue extreme left progressive delusional mindset…you’re welcome! I truly believe you’d support Jeffery Dahmer if he was a Dem nominee.
I only wonder if you’ll survive if The Donald wins. GL

        • Once Klas-less has to see “President Elect Trump” referred to in the news, humble pie will have to be trucked in and unloaded by the pallet with a forklift.

        • Keonigohan -You continue your pathological lying about someone on another website being me. You are unable to write truthfully.

Or did the New York City Police Department confirm that to you? You’ll recall that you lied earlier about the NYPD “confirming” that Mrs. Clinton was wearing an earpiece during the first debate. That never happened of course – you just made it up and wrote it here. You are a liar, but of course you already know that.

Mr. Trump is losing, and badly. It’s going to be a humiliating loss for him (and hopefully, his followers) to the point that it silences him forever.

        • thos – Thanks to you also for contributing to making Donald Trump the Republican nominee! You’ve delivered the White House and the Senate to Democrats, and there’s a small chance that even the House may end up in Democratic control.

          Great work!

        • Federal Judge klastri (Kurt on Kauai or kauai) claimed the following:
Appointed Federal Judgeship by Pres. GW Bush….really?
          Employed in JAG…really?
BREXIT would crash the stock market….what happened?
Personal attorney pals (a dozen of them) would appeal the exoneration of Officer Darren Wilson in the Michael Brown case…what happened?
Participated in the BLM group…when asked couldn’t provide names or even a phone number of that group.
          Is .01% of the 1% financial level….really?
          2 sons are Doctors….really?
Stated Obamacare is O’s greatest achievement and SIGNATURE Legacy…what happened?
I’ve never encountered such a devious deceptive egotistical narcissistic extreme left wingnut such as yourself. I only can laugh at you because you are unbelievable..get it…unbelievable.

        • Keonigohan – The problem is that you’ve been caught in lie after lie, so you have reached across to a completely different media site to attribute the words of another (now it’s two other people) to me. Why not go back in history and just choose quotes at random and say that I wrote them? If you’re going to lie, you might as well go big!

You are a liar. You cannot write truthfully. You’re definitely a Trump supporter!

        • klastri…like I said..you are unbelievable and a liar who believes in your own lies.
Afraid to think how you’ll be should The Donald win.

  • Surprised to see Paula Jones with Trump; he called her a “loser” in 1998. And he seemed to have no problems w/B Clinton’s affairs in 1999. He actually said “People would have been more forgiving if he’d had an affair with a really beautiful woman of sophistication.”

    • I’m forced to agree with Trump on that quote. Bill mostly went after the underclass trailer park types, shunning the glamorous types that JFK (and the Donald) went after. Yep, you can take the boy away out of the white trash but can’t take the white trash out of the boy. President of the USA and he goes after chubby, underage, Jewish interns and Wal-Mart shoppers. C’mom Bill where’s your dignity?

      • Among the vast litany of your fundamental shortcomings, you now also add an anti-Semite. Hmmm, couple that with your fictious degrees and careers and you got quite a catch……

        • Not agreeing or disagreeing but how is he calling someone a “Jewish intern” an anti-Semite statement?

        • Consider the slant and tenor of the sentence. He just previously formed a foundation that Bill Clinton had the less desirable affairs, and the goes on to make a list of his perceived liabilities, e.g. Chubby…….

      • Yes, he is clearly saying that there is something wrong with Bill’s choice of women.

As if Trump using his money and fame to have affairs with and temporarily marry former models is somehow classier.

        • Just pointing out that Bill has some sort of weird inferiority complex and it’s reflected in the women he has chosen to assault. JFK was boppin’ Marilyn Monroe and WJC was diddlin’ Paula Jones. Surely you can make the distinction there. From there it’s simple to compare the women each man chose to marry. JFK married a beautiful, intelligent and cultured lady. WJC married a shrill, nagging, foul-mouthed, cankled, power hungry battle ax.

      • “C’mom Bill where’s your dignity?”

Any aging degenerate who glories in riding on his pal’s Lolita Express to Orgy Island so he can schtup nubile pre-teens has no dignity to speak of.

    • How do you know the lady was paid to dish dirt about Clinton? Did it ever occur to you that the $2,500, which is a paltry amount, was to cover her travel and lodging expenses? No, I guess you did not.

  • And why don’t one of the trump cricket crew explain to all of us the following: how do you lose almost 20% of your base, he went from a high of a about 42% to 35% (per the Wall Street Journal today); and how did you get to 48%, which is the baseline number he needs for a victory??? Or, he would need to gain almost 15% in less than a month.

Well, I’m waiting??? Keep in mind, this historical nugget, no president has come from double digits under 30 days…..crickets, crickets……awkward silence.

    • It will be tough from Trump to turn things around. He must not only beat Hillary, but the media as well. Recall Hillary answering the question about the biggest threat to America? Her answer wasn’t ISIS, but rather REPUBLICANS! The media won’t be playing that. Nor will they be researching Bill’s journeys to Lolita Island. Aren’t you curious about how that all worked?

      • The media won’t be playing that ISIS v. Republicans comment because you lied and just made it up.

It’s hard to play something that didn’t happen, isn’t it?

        • Not true Klastri. Hillary said it on TV, I saw it myself. Ill try to find it…just for you.

        • Still looking, but you can view the video at the DNC primary, STUNNING=> Hillary Clinton, Democrats Say REPUBLICANS Are Main ENEMY of America

I’ll spend a little more time looking for the “greatest threat” quote.

        • By the way, Klastri, I don’t lie. It’s not a crime for politicians to lie, but I’m not a politician. Call Harry Reid a liar. He doesn’t care. He’s PROUD of the fact that he lied because Romney wasn’t elected. Do you deny that as well?

        • cajaybird – When you are caught in a lie, change the subject to Mr. Reid. That tactic always works.

Of course you lied. You did it again just now, repeating that Mrs. Clinton ever said such a thing. You just made it up, like you make up other things you present as fact.

Are you so think to believe that if Mrs. Clinton had actually said such a thing (that thing you made up) that the RNC would not be playing it 24/7 on TV?

If you’e going to lie, at least try something that isn’t so obviously untrue.

        • The closest I could find was from the October 13 Demo primary (cbs)

Cooper: which enemy that you made … are you most proud of ?

Hillary: … In addition to the nra, the health insurance companies, the drug companies, the Iranians . Probably the republicans.

        • Cricket_Amos – OK. That has nothing to do with what cajaybird wrote, so I’m not sure what you mean by “close.”

          He lied. Period.

        • Klastri, I don’t “lie”. I noticed you use the word frequently, along with you medical diagnosis of individuals you’ve never met. If you were more reasonable you might change people’s minds, but your constant extreme rhetoric turns people off. I even wonder if you have any friends.

  • Trump getting the republican nomination was the best thing that could have happened for democrats. It exposed the GOP for what it is – a group of deluded, racist, misogynistic, nut cases. No longer can the GOP pretend those people are only on their “fringes” or something made up by the liberal press. Trump is dragging the whole party down the toilet with him, and the democrats are laughing.

    • We don’t get any where when we raise the argument up into generalities land. It never ends because these are at best approximations. When we lose sight of this it leads to bad judgement.

It happens when “some” is assumed to mean “all” as when it is claimed that Trump said (all) Mexicans were rapists. The context was illegal aliens and in the same statement he said some were good people.

It happens when Hillary seems to be saying that all drug companies etc are her enemy.

It happens when you use words like racist and misogynistic. These words speak to something that does not exist as a thing in the real world. You can criticize specific actions of a person but it is false to imply that you know there is some kind of evil essence of which they are infected.

This type of thinking is responsible for a great portion of mankind’s troubles. We end living in the fabrications of our words rather than in realty. We end up getting it wrong again and again.
