Likely fueled by the improved prospects for building a football stadium on the Strip, Clark County has granted permission for an extension of the monorail from the MGM Grand to the Mandalay Bay. The approved extension of 1.4 miles will also put the system in position to expand again to the airport at a future date.

The cost is estimated at $100 million, and there’s a two-year window to initiate construction, though planners say it could begin as early as the second quarter of 2017.

Cosmo suites: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas is adding 21 new suites that it says will “set a new bar for luxury on the Strip.” The penthouses will be on the top floor of the Boulevard Tower and range in size from 2,000 to 5,000 square feet. Accompanying the Boulevard Penthouses will be a private gaming salon overlooking the Strip. All are expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2017.

Resort fees raised: Resort fees have been raised at Aria, Bellagio and Vdara. Previously $32 per night, the base fee is now $35 and with tax, $39.20.
