Hearing set in beating of pregnant girlfriend
A preliminary hearing has been set for Thursday for a 30-year-old Red Hill man accused of beating his pregnant girlfriend, then threatening to kill her, their 6-month-old son and himself.
Titus Ramos was charged last week with eight felonies, including kidnapping, first-degree attempted assault and two counts of first-degree terroristic threatening. He remains at the Oahu Community Correctional Center in lieu of $150,000 bail.
The alleged beating happened Nov. 16 after Ramos called his girlfriend of 2-1/2 years and accused her of having an affair with another man, who he claimed was the father of her unborn child, according to a police affidavit filed in Honolulu District Court.
The woman denied the allegations and agreed to meet Ramos at his apartment to talk.
When she arrived at about 11 a.m., Ramos beat her severely and threatened her with a gun, the affidavit said.
