Previous coverage

A flash flood watch has been issued for all islands due to a deep tropical moisture and an unstable air mass, the National Weather Service said.

There is a potential for heavy showers and thunderstorms across the state, officials said.

The watch continues through this afternoon.

A high surf advisory is in effect for the east-facing shores of the Big Island through 6 p.m.

Surf is expected to be 5- to 8-feet high, officials said.

Also on the Big Island, a winter storm warning is in effect today and tonight for the Big Island summits, bringing more snow to Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea.

Temperatures are expected to be in the mid-20s to lower 30s and an additional 6 to 12 inches of snow is expected today.

I hope the state went out to the H-1 freeway east bound by the Waimalu exit area to clean up the drains. Yesterday during the rains the freeway was ponding so bad. I don’t know how a freeway that’s above the ground ponds. It was like a river in the left lane. The water was just flowing over the drains that seemed clogged with dirt and vegetation. Very dangerous and negligent.
