UFC’s Max Holloway at Gracie Technics Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Kalihi in Aug. 2015.

Anthony Pettis missed weight by three pounds but will still fight Waianae’s Max Holloway in the main event of UFC 206 on Saturday night at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.

Holloway (16-3, 12-3 UFC), who made the 145-pound weight limit, will still fight for the interim featherweight title, but Pettis (19-5, 6-4) will not be eligible for the championship if he wins, according to a UFC official.

Pettis, who weighed in at 148 pounds, will also forfeit 20 percent of his fight purse to Holloway.

The fighters officially weighed in early this morning privately. A public weigh-in is scheduled for 11 a.m. Hawaii time.

Pettis, a former UFC champion at 155 pounds, was attempting his second fight at 145 pounds.

The fight is available on pay-per-view.

    LOSE MONEY!

3 pounds? With 24 pro fights, he should be able to know how to “cut” weight leading up to a fight. This is not 155 like he previously fought at. Come on Max, put him away and bring the title home. Good luck…

Three pounds is not even close. Hard to take MMA seriously when so-called “professionals” can’t even make weight.
