A 24-year-old Ewa Beach man who police said stabbed two women at his home last week was released today pending investigation.

But the man remained at the hospital where he was receiving treatment, police said.

The stabbing unfolded at about 12:45 p.m. Friday after a 24-year-old woman and her 53-year-old mother went to the man’s house in the 91-1100 block of Laulaunui Street. An argument ensued and the man stabbed both women, police said.

Paramedics treated both women for multiple stab wounds to their upper bodies and took them in critical condition to a hospital. Police said their conditions have since improved.

Patrol officers arrested the man shortly after for investigation of first-degree attempted murder, and he was taken to the Queen’s Medical Center-West Oahu for cuts to his arms and an apparent drug overdose.
