A 64-year-old Renton, Wash., woman died today despite efforts to save her, after being pulled from the ocean at Kapalua Bay on Maui.

The woman was snorkeling with family when beachgoers noticed her unresponsive and brought her to shore, Maui Fire Department said in a news release.

The good Samaritans began cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Firefighters, called at 12:33 p.m., arrived at 12:40 p.m., and took over CPR. Paramedics arrived shortly afterward, continuing life-saving measures, but she died at the scene.

So many stories about snorkelors just being found unresponsive. Any connection as to why this happens while snorkeling? Don’t here about shoppers being found unresponsive in various isles as they shop.
