The Coast Guard rescued six people after their 34-foot boat ran aground while entering the channel at Keehi Lagoon.
At about 6:43 p.m. Thursday, the Coast Guard received a mayday call from the boaters of the grounded vessel Malia.
The Coast Guard launched its 45-foot response boat but it was unable to reach the vessel because of the shallow water. A MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew responded and hoisted the boaters safely to land.
No injuries were reported.
The boat owner is working with the Coast Guard to salvage the vessel.
