Rainbow baseball team holds off San Francisco

San Francisco catcher Dominic Miroglio stole second base as Hawaii’s Dustin Demeter awaited the throw during the second inning today at Les Murakami Stadium.

The University of Hawaii baseball team held off a late San Francisco threat for a 3-2 victory today at Les Murakami Stadium.

A crowd of 1,135 saw the Rainbow Warriors end a three-game losing streak to improve to 2-4. The teams meet at 1:05 p.m. Sunday in the final game of this four-game series.

The ‘Bows built a 3-1 lead on Alex Fitchett’s RBI double in the sixth. But the Dons closed to 3-2 in the seventh, then had the potential tying run on third with one out in the top of the ninth. Then Matt Sinatro his a hard grounder to first. Eric Ramirez fielded the ball, then threw out Harrison Bruce at the plate.

Patrick Martin then retired Nico Giarratano for the final out.
