Woman who died in car crash on Big Isle identified

A 35-year-old woman who died in a single-car crash on the Big Island has been identified as Aurelie Vincent.

Vincent of Vienne, France died Sunday in a crash on Mauna Kea Access Road, approximately 1.2 miles from the visitor center.

Police said Vincent was traveling in a 2001 Nissan sports utility vehicle when the vehicle ran off the roadway and overturned several times.

She was taken to Hilo Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

Vincent’s passenger who is also from France was transported to the hospital and flown to Queen’s Medical Center in stable condition.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to call Officer Erhard Autrata at 961-8118 or e-mail erhard.autrata@hawaiicounty.gov.
