Model home offers closer look at ADUs

    A model accessory dwelling unit stands on the Ewa side of the state Capitol lawn at the corner of Richards and South Beretania streets. Hawaii Habitat for Humanity and the Hawaii Appleseed Center for Law & Economic Justice constructed it to help raise awareness about statewide housing needs.

State and city officials Monday urged people to walk through a 408-square-foot accessory dwelling unit temporarily erected on the grounds of the state Capitol to see whether it could help them generate rental income while easing Oahu’s housing shortage. Read more
