Brendan Hornung pitched his fourth complete game to lift the University of Hawaii baseball team to a 4-2 victory over UC Riverside today at the Riverside Sports Complex in California.

Hornung (5-2) relinquished 11 hits but did not allow a walk and struck out five as the Rainbow Warriors won the opener of this three-game Big West series.

Dylan Vchulek, who has reached base in all 31 games this season, singled home Alex Fitchett to give the ‘Bows a 2-1 lead in the fifth. Fitchett, who went 2-for-2 with a walk and a hit by pitch, scored runs in the seventh and ninth.

The teams meet Friday at 3 p.m. Hawaii time.
